Book Design

Norigae is a traditional Korean accessory often adorning hanbok skirts. Consisting of cords, tassels, and pendants, the norigae was worn by Korean women as a signifier of wealth and luck.

About Norigae tells the history of norigae through descriptive lists and original illustrations all while being a norigae itself. The book is printed on hanji, a traditional Korean paper, and seonjang binded, a side-stitch technique often used during the Joseon dynasty. The small scale of the book invites readers to look closely into the world of the Korean traditional accessory.
